About Amped Up
Jamie Hamed, owner
An electrician and plumber from Western New York who started his business over in Nashville in 2019.

How it started
He was fourteen when he overheard that an oil company near home needed electricians. His reaction, as he tells it on his own site:
“I could do that and have a job waiting for me!”Jamie Hamed, on hearing the oil company was hiring
He took the trade seriously from there. He did vocational school while he was still in high school, then went on to Alfred State College of Technology and graduated third out of 60.
The first business, and the second
Jamie ran his own company in Western New York before he came south. In 2019 he moved to Nashville and rebuilt it from nothing: no customer list, no referrals, no name in town. Amped Up is the business he built here, based in Hermitage.
The name on the truck covers three trades because he holds the skills for all of them. He’s a licensed electrician and a licensed plumber, and he has trained in gas line work, welding, heavy machinery, solar and generators. The mini excavator in the photo above, cutting a trench across a yard, is the last part of that list at work.
The calls he likes best
By his own account he still searches out the odd, unexplained problem in a house, for the fun of digging into it. Those take patience and a willingness to open things up, and they’re the jobs where knowing both the wiring and the plumbing pays off.
Customers notice the manner as much as the work. Reviewers write that he explains what needs doing before he does it and puts things back the way he found them, and one mentioned the jokes.
